Untraditionally Race of Traditional 52nd BIELA STOPA 2025
The Organizing Committee of the 52nd White Trail has conducted a thorough inspection of the race tracks on both the Northern and Southern Circuits and, regrettably, has concluded that due to inconsistent snow cover and ensuring the safety of all competitors❄️, we will hold the race on specially prepared standard tracks around Skalka.
We sincerely regret that for the second consecutive year, nature has not allowed us to host the full profile events of 50 km, 25 km freestyle, and 30 km classic technique. This decision was not made lightly, as we fully understand the excitement and anticipation surrounding these traditional distances.
Despite the insufficient snow accumulation in the Kremnické vrchy region, the Organizing Committee, during yesterday’s meeting, firmly resolved to proceed with the race at Skalka, utilizing the facilities at the Rudolf Čillík Stadium and the surrounding tracks.
Participants of the 52nd White Trail can look forward to experiencing a new and innovative race format this year. The event will feature an “Hourly” format, a unique twist on the traditional race structure.
What does this mean for competitors? Depending on the total number of registered participants, we will start groups of up to 50 racers on a carefully prepared track, tailored to the available technical capabilities and the existing snow conditions. Each group will compete on the circuit for a duration of one hour, with the goal of completing the maximum number of laps within that timeframe. Once the first group has finished, another cohort of 50 will immediately follow with their own one-hour race. This process will continue until all competitors have had their turn on the track.
The results will be determined based on the total number of laps completed, with any ties being resolved by the recorded finish times. Please note that on Saturday, we will not be offering the traditional 50 km and 25 km distances; instead, we will host a single “Hourly” race in the freestyle technique. However, the categories will remain unchanged, ensuring that participants can still compete within their respective divisions.
On Sunday, we will again prepare the same track and implement the “Hourly” format, with the hopeful expectation that sufficient snowfall will enable us to craft a viable course for classic technique skiing. Additionally, the White Track Junior event is also scheduled to take place on Sunday, providing opportunities for younger competitors to participate.
We genuinely hope that this fresh race format will resonate with you, and that, despite the challenges posed by weather conditions and limited training opportunities, you will join us in Skalka near Kremnica on March 1-2 to embrace the challenge of the NON-TRADITIONAL TRADITIONAL WHITE TRACK.
In the event of an extraordinary snowfall, with a minimum accumulation of 40 cm by February 27, 2025, we will revert to the standard race format for the 52nd White Track.
We are eagerly looking forward to your participation.
